Shoes to our family are like grapes to a grower, like clay to a sculptor, as conditioning to an athlete. I was born into the shoe business—my grandfather opened a store circa 1937 and my father and uncle opened their first store of many in 1947, after WWII. My hard work ethic began at an early age. Then I realized I was passionate about every aspect of the business—it became a labor of love.
Front designing, putting color and materials together, changing heel heights along with fit and comfort, trimming windows, making the store look beautiful, and most of all providing our customers with fashion and terrific service has been tradition.
My daughter Katie Ray Johnston is fourth generation and she has multiplied the tradition, love and ethic ten-fold. When Katie was little her love of fashion was everywhere—making customers friends, advising her girls what to wear and how to wear it. It was exciting and creative.
Today the same scenario continues in our store: Katie is on call or on call by telephone advising our customers what to wear, even on vacations.
Katie's keen eye for new fashion and her compassion for people allow her to focus on women's needs, no matter what age and size. We have expanded our store selection to accommodate everyone.
Please check Katie’s fashion tips on our site regularly.
Welcome to our store,
